About Our Club
The Legacy
The Gainesville Woman's Club, chartered in 1903, is one of the oldest women’s organizations in our community. It is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization affiliated with the Florida Federation of Women's Clubs and the parent organization, the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC). Club members work together to address improving our community through service and charitable commitments while also providing an opportunity for socialization and leadership development for its members.
The club is part of District 5 within GFWC Florida. With a long tradition of service to the community, the Gainesville Woman’s Club continues to be a force for the betterment of Gainesville. We cherish our role in the community and the ability to respond to issues. Our clubhouse is located just west of the University of Florida and is a premiere facility for meetings and events. Our club flower, the yellow jasmine, and colors, green and gold, are featured throughout the webpages.
The membership of 200 women elects officers each May. Elected Officers and an Executive Board are responsible for governance of the club. The Executive Board (listed at the bottom of this page) meets at the clubhouse on the 1st Monday of each month except during the summer. The Board meetings are from 11AM until noon followed by a lunch prepared by Board members. In addition to our many scheduled events, the entire membership meets the 3rd Wednesday of Sept/Oct/Dec and Feb/Mar/May with the times being specific to each meeting. All events with times are noted in the Events and Calendar Sections.
Our Office Manager is available during clubhouse hours of 9AM to 1PM to answer questions via email, telephone or visit to the clubhouse.
